Since the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been reported that pet dumping cases are rife, with some due to unfounded fear that the owners are not able to afford their pets or the animals can spread Covid-19, although no evidence exists to indicate that they can either transmit the virus or develop Covid-19 associated diseases. This fear has resulted in pets being abandoned or being killed. The current pandemic has negatively impacted the welfare of pets. The number of strays had increased by an estimated 70% since Covid-19 struck, especially pet abandonment cases have increased by 300% during Movement Control Order (MCO). This proves that the public has low awareness towards stray issues and animal welfare, moreover, the pet owners have low morality that leads to pets abandonment. Cat Beach, one of the NGOs helping with these issues, is handling more cats since the pandemic.
To increase public awareness and to improve the quality and efforts on animal welfare in Penang. The main aim of this project is to increase awareness of cat care and to improve cat welfare (find a home for stray cats). We co-joined our project with the Cat Beach Sanctuary to solve our problem.
The project consists of several key activities that helps us reach our ultimate goal;
1st - Train the Trainer (TtT)
Which aims to equip our volunteers with enough knowledge and skills before conducting a series of adoption campaigns.
2nd - Adoption Campaign
Volunteers in this project will prepare several series of adoption campaigns on online platforms to find homes for stray cats.
3rd - Content Creation
Volunteers in this project will prepare several content creations to raise awareness about cats and Cat Beach Sanctuary.
4th - Virtual Zumba
A virtual celebration to celebrate and appreciate cats.
5th - Education Livestream
Volunteers in this project will prepare content on Cat Care and conduct Education Livestream on the online platform.
Our campaign's ultimate goal that will be achieved is to increase public awareness and improve the quality and efforts of animal welfare in Penang.
In the end, the impact would be;
1. To raise funds and improve the sustainability of animal welfare.
2. Have cats from Cat Beach find a safe forever home.
3. To spread awareness of social issues which contribute to animal welfare to the public.
4. To provide education so the public can acknowledge the consequences of their own actions at the same time giving more care to the animals.

Our Identity
AIESEC is the world's largest non-profit youth-run organization. It is an international non-governmental not-for-profit organisation that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural global internships, and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe. The organization focuses on empowering young leaders to make a positive impact on society through actions.
Our Vision
AIESEC strives for Peace and Fulfilment of Humankind's Potential as an organisation.
In today’s context, ‘Peace’ does not necessarily mean only avoiding war. Peace can symbolise a world that does not have conflicts that arise from cultural, religious, or other aspects of differences in humanity. Peace can also symbolise being in harmony with yourself. AIESEC strives to build a world where people can work towards their own understanding of peace while respecting and understanding the views of others.
Through Fulfilment of Humankind’s Potential, AIESEC strives for a world where people can be the best version of themselves.
Our Action
We place our confidence in youth because they have the passion, dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit that are needed to shape the future. They have the responsibility to improve tomorrow by choosing who they will be today. Hence, AIESEC is a platform for young leaders to run projects that are aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure its relevance to the local community needs. We aim to be part of the solution for a betterment of Malaysia.
