THE PROBLEM

About 1/3 of food produced in the world is either lost or wasted. In Malaysia 3,000 tonnes of edible food is thrown away each day. This is enough to feed 10 million people every day. No-one in Malaysia should suffer from hunger. The COP 8.0 team is currently doing our best to raise awareness towards this issue.

For this amount of food to be produced, this puts enormous pressure on the earth’s precious natural resources including land and water use; and food production requires great amounts of energy – leading to greenhouse gas emissions that are drastically changing the world we lived in.

THE SOLUTION

AIESEC in Sunway has come up with Clean Our Plate 8.0 which targets SDG12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Throughout 4 weeks of activities, we will be hosting workshop, webinar, online challenge, pitching competition and much more! The funds collected will be channeled to The Lost Food Project, and the organization would purchase meals and send over to the families who are in need.

THE IMPACT

Clean Our Plate aims to donate the funds collected to The Lost Food Project (TLFP) to provide support to families who are facing hard times. The Lost Food Project (TLFP) is a Malaysian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to a sustainable future by rescuing ‘lost’ food and finding it a new home with people who need it most.
