Education necessities for Orang Asli school children in Sungai Leyef

THE PROBLEM

In a place where it takes hours of walking or driving, there lies an Orang Asli village. In a place where emergencies are brought through air transportation, there lies a group of Orang Asli school students who are eager to study and understand the world around them. 

Being deep in the forest, it’s hard to get necessities to support their education. With one class accommodating more than 40 students from different age ranges, it makes it difficult for the teacher to teach a common subject that can cater to everyone.

THE SOLUTION

By providing them with a set of stationeries and exercise books, the teacher can teach students from a specific age range on a certain concept, provide exercises and then move on to teach the rest of the students. With exercise books, it also provides a lot of space and individualized learning opportunities for the students, which is very much needed throughout the learning phase, as it promotes independence and autonomy on their own work.

This support will be provided to the students in Rancangan Penempatan Semula (RPS) Rengat, Sungai Leyef, Gerik, Perak. Around 40 direct beneficiaries (students), and 80 indirect beneficiaries (parents, teachers) will benefit from this support.
