The lack of affordable non-emergency ambulance services in the South of Kedah, Malaysia. Hospital ambulance services generally function to transport a casualty to the hospital. Patients who required transport from the hospital back home or are bedridden and require ambulance transport for check-up and treatment will have to engage private ambulance services to cater their needs.
There is also the issue of response times for emergency cases. Since the coverage area of the general hospital is quite wide, ambulances based at the hospital may take a while to reach more remote areas due to the distance.
We hope to raise funds to purchase a new ambulance to improve the services we offer and expand our scope of coverage. We are calling on the general public to help us raise funds for a new well equipped ambulance to enable us to serve the local community better.
St. John Ambulans Malaysia, South Kedah Area aims to provide affordable and if the situation warrants free non-emergency ambulance service for the community in the south of Kedah, Malaysia.
Also by having well equipped ambulances available, we will be able to eventually set up specific ambulance stations which are located far away from the local hospital to be able to respond to cases faster and provide quality pre-hospital care.

St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, South Kedah Area (St. John Ambulans Malaysia, Kawasan Kedah Selatan) is the local chapter of St. John Ambulans Malaysia in the south of Kedah. Our coverage is 2566.27 km2 or three district which are Kulim, Bandar Baharu and Baling.
As a not for profit organization, we are run entirely by volunteers and rely of public goodwill to help sustain our operations. Our traditional methods of fundraising have been dented this year by the COVID-19 pandemic and have to resort to newer methods of fundraising.
As part of our initiatives to serve the community better we are looking to more actively perform non-emergency ambulance serve and eventually emergency ambulance service to supplement the local hospitals. At the moment we are operating a single ambulance which is not able to cater to the rising needs and coverage for the local community.
