Transforming LYFE

The Story

We are a dedicated group of students—Alia, Rahul, and Lisanthi—volunteering for the LYFE project, an initiative by AIESEC at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. Our mission is to elevate the quality of education for underprivileged children, enabling them to realize their full potential.

AIESEC, a youth-run, non-governmental, and not-for-profit organization, specializes in leadership development, cross-cultural internships, and global volunteer exchange experiences. With a focus on empowering young people to make a positive social impact, AIESEC provides a platform for us to contribute to meaningful change.

Our passion lies in positively influencing the lives of underprivileged children by empowering them through education. This fundraising campaign is our commitment to the belief that every child deserves access to quality education, irrespective of their background or circumstances.

While the government in Malaysia offers free tuition for public schools, we have observed persistent challenges. It's not just about tuition fees; it's about the necessities required for a child to attend school—uniforms, bags, stationeries, and shoes. Without these essentials, children face the risk of bullying and discrimination. 

Children from disadvantaged backgrounds often begin school less prepared, impacting their ability to fully engage in learning. They might face challenges due to limited access to important resources like educational materials and support systems needed for early development. This lack of readiness can lead to ongoing educational inequalities, making it harder for them to keep up with more advantaged peers.

Why do we care about underprivileged communities? Supporting them promotes social equality, ensuring everyone has access to opportunities that enhance and improve their lives. In doing so, we contribute to the growth of individuals and the advancement of our economy and country.

All funds we receive will benefit our chosen beneficiaries—Buku Jalanan Chow Kit and Rumah Sayangan—where we aim to provide daily necessities and educational supplies for underprivileged children. Additionally, we'll be facilitating the development of soft skills among these students, better preparing them for future work opportunities. Your support will be instrumental in creating positive change.
