Appreciate The Uniqueness Not The Disability

The Story

Hello everyone! We are a small group of people from AIESEC raising money for the disabled community. The three of us, Sumedha, Ain and Azimy are working towards this cause. We are working with two organisations, IQ70plus and Intellectually Disabled Association Malaysia (IDA) which are disabled centres that takes care of disabled people. Our goals for this campaign are to raise money and awareness regarding the disabled commmunity.

We feel like people don't have a strong understanding in regards to the disabled community. There is a belief that there is a huge difference in capability between those who are disabled and those who are not. This belief is incorrect. Disabled people can contribute adequately to the society.They possess different skillsets that can create a postive impact. Therefore, we should not disregard the disabled people and instead learn how to interact with them. One must bring out the best in them through understanding and compassion. We hope that our campaign would have a wide reach. We hope to bridge the gap between the current society and the disabled community.

We believe the money raised would greatly improve the lives of those who live in the disabled centres. Lets do our part to give back to this part of society irrespective of the amount and make the world a better place for everyone.

Service users: Mentally challenged individuals

Number of Service Users: 70

How our funds would be helping: We will use your funds/ donations to take care of the special need individuals. All 70 residents stay in our home for free, and we need to gather funds from time to time to pay for all their daily living cost, which include meal expenses, medical bills, physiotherapy and speech therapy bill, our home utility bills, groceries, etc.

Service Users: Young adults with Intellectually challenged
