I am Nurul Azlina, a Malaysian Youth Volunteer from AIESEC Universiti Putra Malaysia. Currently, I am actively part of the Clean Our Plate 11.0 project, where we wholeheartedly commit ourselves to raise awareness on the never-ending food waste issue.
The poignant findings from the UNDP's "Malaysia Human Development Report 2020" lay bare a heart-wrenching reality: nearly a quarter of Malaysia's populace struggles to make ends meet, living on less than the country's median income. This heart-rending disparity places them on a precarious precipice, vulnerable to the chilling grip of malnutrition and the haunting specter of homelessness. The threads of destitution and hunger are tightly woven; for those without a place to call home, the mere sustenance of nourishing meals becomes an elusive dream, obscured by the harsh shadows of financial strife. Imagine, a soul adrift in Kuala Lumpur, battling not just the pangs of hunger, but also the weight of circumstances that deny them access to wholesome sustenance. With their options constrained, they turn to meager, budget-priced fare, which, while filling the belly, lacks the vital nutrients the body so desperately craves. This grim compromise leads down a perilous path, paved with the jagged stones of malnutrition and its cruel companions: weakened health and well-being.
In the battle against the icy specter of malnutrition and the haunting threat of homelessness, we can extend a lifeline of solace and sustenance. By donating as low as RM10, you can ensure that those teetering on the precipice of destitution are not left to fall. Serving up hot meals infused with compassion, you not only provide them with nourishment for their body but your kindness can be a reminder that amidst the shadows of financial turmoil, there are hands willing to share the burden.
