I am Najiha Binti Ismail , a Malaysian Youth Volunteer under the AIESEC Organisation from Universiti Putra Malaysia.I joined COP : Clean Our plate project under AIESEC in order to manage food surplus and food waste.I am passionate in giving hands in helping the community including in raising awareness.
Malaysia suffers a huge food waste problem, with significant volumes of edible food thrown daily. This problem contributes to environmental degradation since wasted food emits greenhouse gases as it decomposes in landfills. Meanwhile, the homeless community and other vulnerable populations face food poverty and hunger, unable to access appropriate nutrients for their well-being.
I decide to help this campaign as The food waste and hunger dilemma in Malaysia is concerning. It's important to implement immediate and long-term solutions to reduce waste, redistribute surplus food, and support vulnerable populations. Combining efforts can address both environmental degradation and food poverty.
People should help with this campaign because:
Environmental Impact: Reducing food waste helps combat climate change by lowering greenhouse gas emissions from landfills. Contributing to this cause supports a healthier planet for future generations.
Social Responsibility: Assisting the homeless and vulnerable populations by giving them access to nutritious food is a moral obligation. It helps alleviate hunger and improves the well-being of marginalized communities.
Sustainable Food System: Supporting this campaign fosters a more sustainable and efficient food system, ensuring that resources are used responsibly and equitably.
Together, we can make a difference by changing consumption habits and addressing food waste and hunger.
