Who am I?
I'm Chew Mei Qi, a Malaysian Youth Volunteer under AIESEC organization from Universiti Putra Malaysia for Clean Our Plate project. The objectives of our project are to increase awareness of the food waste issue and encourage sustainable consumption among youth.
Issue
Homeless issue still exists to date. The homeless community may be unemployed, underprivileged, and cannot afford to buy or rent a house. Hence, they usually stay under the bridge, on the street, or in the abandoned building with a very low quality of life. They will always struggle for basic nourishment and essential resources to meet daily nutritional needs, some even facing malnutritional issues. However, nobody is willing to care about them, and nobody will know how cold and hungry they are during the rainy day. The most sarcastic phenomenon is that the homeless sleep in hungry, the wealthy sleep in eating.
Solution
Money collected will be handled by our partner which is The Assembly Soup Kitchen (TASK). It is an all-volunteer organization that serves the homeless and those in need with hot and nutritious meals.
The donation is to provide 15 healthy and balanced meals to the homeless community to supply them with the essential nourishment they need to survive. Hence, we are able to light up their world and make their lives more hopeful with our love and kindness through this donation.
