The Story

Who am I and What am I doing?

Hey there! I am Lee Shi Pei, a Malaysian Youth Volunteer under AIESEC from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Recently, I am joining a project known as Clean Our Plate (COP) to help reducing food waste based on consumer's level as well as raising awareness on the importance of food waste management amongst youth.

I am currently raising funds for the homeless community. The inspiration that drove me to initiate this campaign is I feel like the homeless community also deserves to obtain what we have and what we consume. As a volunteer, I donate my time to commit into this cause. As part of the public, you can also provide a helping hand just by donating your money!

Objective

Provide 40 meals to homeless individuals to meet their nutritional requirements throughout the day through donations.

Issue

Homelessness is a complex issue that is often linked to various factors such as poverty, lack of affordable housing, mental health problems, substance abuse, and systemic barriers in accessing employment opportunities. For those who find themselves homeless, obtaining regular, healthy meals can be an ongoing challenge.

The situation becomes even more difficult when homeless individuals experience social discrimination, making it harder for them to find employment and break out of the cycle of poverty. This results in a lack of financial resources to afford healthy food, which can lead to malnutrition and health problems.

Some homeless individuals resort to searching for food in trash bins, which exposes them to unhygienic conditions and food safety risks. Eating discarded or expired food can also lead to health issues and worsen their already vulnerable state.

Without a stable place to live and consistent income, many homeless individuals face difficulty in accessing sufficient and nutritious food. Food assistance programs play a crucial role in providing meals to those in need.

Solution

In this campaign, the funds raised will be donated to our partner, The Assembly Soup Kitchen (TASK). TASK is an independent and non-profit organisation that serves the homeless community predominantly in the Klang Valley. Hence, the donation that we have received from you will transform into their cost in preparing and delivering delicious lunch boxes to the people in need.

For every RM10 you have contributed, a homeless person will be able to enjoy a nutritious meal! If you are willing to contribute more, you are most welcomed to do so as more homeless people will be benefited. So, join us now to make a difference with your kind and generous donation! We genuinely appreciate and express profound gratitude for your benevolence and generosity.
