The Story

Hello everyone! 

We are Sabrina, Ameen and Jin Chen and we need your help! 

We are very passionate about helping underprivileged children in Malaysia and strive to give them a brighter future. Despite continuous development in our country, many underprivileged families are still left behind and require assistance just to survive on a daily basis…

Fortunately, we are part of the LYFE project; an initiative by AIESEC at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. AIESEC is an international youth-run, non-governmental and non-for-profit organisation that focuses on empowering young people to make a progressive social impact. The LYFE project aims to provide youths the exposure to the importance of career planning and understanding the need to develop themselves in terms of soft skills to prepare them for an ever changing environment in the future.

Our fundraising project, “ONE LYFE AT A TIME”, is meant to help raise money for 3 NGOs which are Agathians Shelter, Yayasan Chow Kit and Rumah Sayangan.

Below are brief introductions for each of our beneficiaries:

Agathians Shelter is a welfare home located at Petaling Jaya. They have 40 boys from age ranges between 5 to 20 years old who are either orphans, abandoned or from broken families. The shelter’s mission is to save children from the streets and to fulfil all essential needs in every kid’s life such as shelter, food, education, care, attention, and love.

Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) is a non-profit organisation that caters to the needs of children in and around Chow Kit. We run two drop-in centres in Chow Kit and one safe home for children who are in need of temporary guardianship. YCK aims to provide a safe space and expose the children to as many positive opportunities to allow each child to reach their full potential. 

Rumah Sayangan started with the hope that children from underprivileged families would enjoy fulfilling lives in loving homes. Scheduled activities for the kids’ schoolwork, tuition, leisure and relaxation make up the daily home schedule. Holidays are planned with workshops, charity events, out-of-town visits, fun activities and numerous festivities. The children range from 8-16 of age. 

All the funds that we receive shall be used for daily necessities as well as educational supplies for the underprivileged children.

These children come from low-income families and are unable to experience a typical childhood. They lack the capacity to grow emotionally, physically, or socially. By donating, we can improve the lives of less fortunate children and provide them a chance to learn and develop for their future. It goes without saying that our future leaders are the children of today. Without them, the world would be at a loss. Poverty makes it difficult for children to break the cycle, but education may hold the key to ending it. So let’s help each other, starting at ONE LYFE AT A TIME.
