Sharing the Love with Malaysia's Special Needs Community

The Story



Heyy, I’m Jaydon, just another person who wants to support this community by stepping out of his comfort zone to make a difference. I decided to do so by joining AIESEC in Sunway where I am volunteering in a program called ‘Get Fit, Get Inclusive’ which aims to reduce inequalities by assisting special needs children in Malaysia by hosting workshops which help develope the children’s mental and social skills. Besides that, we are running this fundraiser to support IMC Puchong which is a purpose built training centre for children & individuals with special needs.

What is AIESEC in Sunway?

AIESEC in Sunway is a non-political, independent and not-for-profit organization that is run by students of higher institutions in Bandar Sunway.

We organize social projects related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goal) and encourage youth to participate - aiding today's youths in creating a positive impact through social projects.

Did you know that...

• 1 in 3 Malaysians believed that children with disabilities should be kept hidden?
• 43% of Malaysians felt that 'children with disabilities would be disruptive in a mainstream class'?

The special needs community is still widely misunderstood, and 'Get Fit, Get Inclusive aims to dispel the misunderstandings surrounding them to help these individuals live a better life.

Goals of 'Get Fit, Get Inclusive':

1. Raise awareness for the special needs community
2. Reduce the stigma and discrimination currently faced by the special needs community
3. Help those in the special needs community to develop as individuals and acclimate into mainstream society

In 'Get Fit, Get Inclusive', we aim to provide our support to IMC Training Centre for Special Needs, an NGO located in Puchong. Despite their hardwork and efforts to help these individuals with special needs to integrate into mainstream society, the rise of COVID-19 and the lack of donations stemming from it has been impacting them.
