Bridging The Gap

The Story

Hey there! I'm Thusshenty Darumaraja from AIESEC in Sunway, a fellow volunteer of ‘Speak Up! 12.0’, a project that strives to provide quality education to underprivileged students in hopes of levelling the playing field to later aid with employment and securing a future.

Personally, education has always been a matter of the utmost importance to me as I have always believed that education was the way out of one's hardships in life. However, having quality education is a privilege that not many have access to, particularly during the pandemic which had widened the gap in educational inequality. Students from B40 communities struggled the most from not having proper devices to stable internet connectivity. 

Hence, in order to help table this, Speak Up, a project by AIESEC in Sunway was established to provide STEAM and personal development workshops, electronic devices and even cash prizes to incentivize students from underprivileged communities to arrow down the education gap between students of various backgrounds. 

In addition to that, a crowdfunding campaign, EduQuity 1.0, had also been initiated to further raise awareness about the challenges faced by the B40 students, empower society to support and advocate for the B40 students in order to foster a more inclusive Malaysia and generate funds to support the B40 students and AIESEC in Sunway's Speak Up! 12.0 project.
