Education for refugees

The Story

We are friends who met in college that are passionate about making society a better place and hence the reason for joining the Empowering Equalities volunteering event; which makes us feel empowered knowing that we can contribute and make a difference.

Most of us have read and learned about the struggles experienced by the refugees. While some might be saddened by the news, others may think of lending a help and if you are one of them, this is a great opportunity to do so! We understand that most people are busy and are unable to contribute physically, but no need to worry, we have a fundraiser here that is the most convenient way to help. We are hoping to raise funds which would go towards greatly improving the education opportunities of the refugees residing in Malaysia. More specifically, it’s donated to the Fugee Schools Scholarship Program which aims to sponsor 20 students. 

It would really help the refugees a lot if you are willing to donate. Just think about the number of children who are able to put on a uniform and attend classes. Our experience as students has taught us the value, importance, and joy of education, and we believe that everyone deserves to study. Therefore, the refugees should not be discriminated against just because of their status. Being able to receive an education would mean a lot to them and this opportunity gives them a bright future.
