The Story

Hello everyone!

We are a group of students; Illyza, Rania, Hui Xia, Jessie and Syeshan. We are a part of the LYFE project, which is an initiative by AIESEC at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.

AIESEC is an international youth-run, non-governmental and non-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural internships, and global volunteer exchange experiences. The organization focuses on empowering young people to make a progressive social impact.

This project aims to improve the quality of education for the underprivileged children as well as to help them realise their full potential that comes with a quality education.

We are a passionate group who believes that education should be readily available to everyone regardless of their background. Children are the pioneers of our future; hence, it is our responsibility to guide them to the right direction. Every child should be given the opportunity to have quality education, as education is one of the best ways to ensure that these children are able to get a better start at life.

Education is a normal part of life that every person experiences.

How true is that statement? 

While we as Malaysians are blessed with the opportunity of "free" primary and secondary education, there still exists underprivileged children who are unable to utilise the opportunity which will help them breaking out of poverty. Their families can barely afford expenses associated with necessities for school that include school uniforms, shoes, and exercise books.

Furthermore, additional costs such as fees for after-school classes and revision books that could contribute to broadening the knowledge of these children are simply not an option as they cannot afford them. And with the transition towards virtual learning, where digital devices is required to support children to pursue their education successfully, it makes it almost impossible for the children in underprivileged families to thrive and reach their full potential.

This is the reality that many children around the globe have to face. But we can help change that.

Though many might believe that a contribution of only a small amount will not make any impact, as the Malay idiom goes; “sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit”. Together, let’s help these underprivileged children break the cycle of poverty and ease the burden of underprivileged families with ensuring them that the education of their children are being taken care of.

All the funds that we receive will go towards our beneficiaries; Buku Jalanan Chow Kit and Agathians Shelter, where daily necessities as well as educational supplies will be bought for the underprivileged children.
