“The hiding stars are trying to shine too.”
Hey there! I am Alicia, one of the Malaysian Youth Volunteers for the ‘Get Fit, Get Inclusive’ project. This volunteering project aims to create awareness of the public towards the special needs community and also helps to reduce the discrimination towards them.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), there are over 1 billion people are estimated to suffer from the disabilities. 1 billion is just a figure, behind the figure is families struggling and lost their way to deal with the difficulties. Also, the COVID-19 pandemic has a disproportionately negative impact on people with disabilities.
Recently, I am watching a Singaporean drama known as “Your World In Mine.” The movie focuses on the theme of people with special needs. Basically, this movie is showing us how a family is affected since the main character, Tian Cai, a special kid is born and how his family deal with him with love and patience. Because the stories of special needs community resonate, netizens with similar experiences feel the same way and cheer each other on the Internet. Personally, I think this drama is a very meaningful and informative drama. We, as the audience, will know more about the situation experienced by a special needs individual and his or her family regardless of the good and the bad.
