The Story

Hello, I'm Amanda, a Malaysian Youth Volunteer under Clean Our Plate project. I am fervently committed to minimising food waste, and I want everyone to understand how crucial it is to do so.

My family struggles with managing food waste since we frequently overbuy foods and wind up throwing away a lot of them because we don't use them before the expiration date. Even worse, we would carelessly toss the food waste into the bin. If this happened in my home, imagine all the homes in Sarawak that dispose of food in such a negligent manner. The amount of wasted food would be in the billions!

I have seen this problem in my home, and I believe strongly that others should also alter how we handle food waste and make a difference by supporting those who continue to face food insecurity.
