The Story

Hello! My name is Puteri Alya Medina and I'm a local virtual volunteer for AIESEC in Johor Bahru. I have two adult cats at home who like to pretend that they're still babies. One is named Ollie and another one is Lulu. Ollie is an orange Persian cat mixed with Mein Coon, while Lulu is a mix between Munchkin and Siamese. I love them so much, I can't imagine life without them in my life. Despite my cats can be ungrateful at times when it comes to being picky eaters, I can't help but think about those stray cats we often see in restaurants and even the streets. Who takes care of them? On top of that, we often heard of cases of animal cruelty and indoor pets evicted out on the streets which are sadly still happening around us.

This fundraising project is created with the intention to raise awareness on current issues regarding abandoned and stray pets. All proceeds from this fundraising event will go to Homeless & Orphans Pets Exist (HOPE) based in Pekan Nanas, Johor. The core missions of HOPE are rescuing, re-homing, sterilization, and increasing public awareness of pet ownership and responsibilities. Apart from food and water, like the pets most of us kept in our homes, the animals in HOPE receive an adequate amount of medical care. All the animals in HOPE are sterilized and given regular vaccinations. With all the enormous amount of love and care provided to ensure that the animals are happy and healthy, they spent over RM140k per month for food expenses and a minimum of RM20k for medical bills. With that, they'd need as much help they can get.

Thus, I genuinely hope that we all can be a part of this fundraising campaign so that together, we can help those furballs in need. No amount is a small amount and we thank you all on behalf of the cute furries <3
