Hi I'm Athira Nabila or some of you might know me as Tyra. I'm currently studying in UTM. Growing up, I was never the girl who's really aware of my surroundings. I grew up with enough food on my plate and never have to worry about what I'm going to eat tomorrow. I had roof over my head, parents who loves and care about me, and friends that I adore. However, as I grew up, I realised that a lot of people does not have the same life as me. When I entered my university, I realised I can't just be the same me that I was growing up, I have a voice, mind and capabilities to try and make a difference. And here we are.
I joined AIESEC knowing that I can start somewhere and try to help as much as I could. I was introduced to this project Southern Youth Leadership Conference or SYLC 10.0. This project aim to create impact on a local level towards SDG 8 which is to substantially reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training.
Here in SYLC 10.0 workshops for highschools and pre university students to spread the awareness and deliver the insights regarding the unemployment issues. We also aim to increase the number of youth with relevant skills for employment and boost their confidence to enter the legal labour force.
In the recent years, there a lot of unfortunate people who couldn't afford to buy schools stationaries and necessary tools especially for online learning. Therefore we came up with the initiative to make a fundraising to help these people. There's no better time than now. I hope all of you are inspired to donate to this good cause ! Your little action could make a big difference.
