Greeting everyone! I'm Sakinah, a third year of accounting student  from University Teknologi MARA and a Local Virtual Volunteer for the Clean Our Plate project organised by AIESEC in University Malaya. I am passionate about inspiring other to create zero food waste world.

Why am I doing this?

Did you know that Malaysians produce around 38,000 tonnes of domestic waste daily?  Out of these 38,000 tonnes, 45% of them are daily food waste. This is roughly around 17,000 tonnes!  And to make matter worse, 24% of them (4,080 tonnes) are food that are still edible. This food alone is enough to feed three million people, three meals a day! Not only that, the dumping of food waste at landfills can also contribute to environmental pollution due to the methane gas released during the decomposition process.

This campaign, which is in collaboration with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia, is an initiative to raise fund and help those in needs during this difficult pandemic period. 70% of the fund raised will be used to buy food donation items for  underprivileged, whereas 30% will go to AIESEC  for future project development.

Any donation does make a difference. Let's work together to end the hunger cycle, reduce environmental pollution and enhance the economy!!
