Hello everyone!
I'm Siti Aisyah Amran, a volunteer of Clean Our Plate Project by AIESEC in Universiti Malaya. This project aims to increase the awareness regarding food waste issues that is happening globally nowadays.
Each year, it is estimated around 1.4 billion tonnes of food are wasted globally and it could feed 2 billions of undernourished people if we reduce our food waste. It is a devastating number and we are still far from the solution whether regarding the food waste and loss or to solve the world hunger. However, taking the first step is always a wise choice. As the saying goes; "Small act, big impact".
Therefore, AISEC in UM has worked together with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia to raise funds for food contributions to the underprivileged beneficiary. About 150 struggling communities during this pandemic are expected to receive the benefits from the fundraising.
The tentative food donation list that will be received per beneficiaries are as follow:
1. Mini Rice Cake 30s (20g)
2. Margarine (1kg)
3. Orange Cordial (2kg)
4. Potato (2.5kg)
5. Onion (1.5kg)
6. Eggs Grade C 30s (60g)
*60% for Yayasan Food Bank to help the underprivileged end beneficiaries, 40% for AIESEC in UM used for future projects development
Your little kindness means the world to others, so let's act now for the better change.
