Greetings everyone!
I am Siti Nurhanani Amani Binti Md Jailani, one of the volunteers for AIESEC Clean Our Plate project in University Malaya. This project aligned with the SDG 12 which are Responsible Consumption and Production was planned to attain one of the alarming issues that is currently happening globally, including in Malaysia which are food wastage.
According to the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp), Malaysians can produce enough food waste that can filled up a total of 7 Olympic-sized swimming pools daily. The study indicates that 16,667 tonnes food waste were generated daily and there are around 4,080 tonnes (24%) of the food waste that are still edible and can actually feed around 3 million people with 3 meals per day.
“To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.” - Dr Seuss
Following this effort, Clean Our Plate AIESEC in UM collaborating with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia aims to generate funds to purchase food contributions that can help around 150 communities and assist them during this difficult pandemic period.
The tentative food donation list that will be received per beneficiaries are as follow:
1. Mini Rice Cake 30s (20g)
2. Margarine (1kg)
3. Orange Cordial (2kg)
4. Potato (2.5kg)
5. Onion (1.5kg)
6. Eggs Grade C 30s (60g)
Your small contributions are big for them. Donate now for a better world.
