Donation shows Appreciation.

The Story

Yep, I am  currently a virtual volunteer for Southern Youth Leadership Conference 10.0 (SYLC 10.0) organised by AIESEC in Johor Bahru. I'm Marcus. I am from Sarawak.Our project, which is the Southern Youth Leadership Conference 10.0 (SYLC 10.0) is targeting the 8th sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, which is the decent work and economic growth and to be precise, we are targetting the unemployment issue that is happening in Johor Bahru. 

Nowadays, the unemployment rate in Malaysia declined to 4.2 percent in December 2021 from 4.8 percent in the same month a year earlier, as the economy recovered from the coronavirus disruptions. The number of unemployed dropped 11.0 percent from a year earlier to 687.6 thousand, while employment increased 2.8 percent to 15.65 million. Meantime, the labor force rose 2.2 percent to 16.34 million. For the whole year, the jobless rate ticked higher to 4.6 percent from 4.5 percent in 2020.The unemployment issue in Johor Bahru has risen up to 3.5% following the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving many people with loss of income and this has caused more and more people to fall into the B40 group or even worse below the poverty line. 

Due to solve this issue, we will cooperate with Connect.ED . Connect.ED is a social enterprise that aims to equip B40 students with digital devices such as laptops to facilitate online learning. We will  comes up with an initiative to raise fund for the Connect.ED project where the fund rasied will be channeled to purchasing digital devices for the B40 students to help them in their online learning amid the pandemic as well as for information searching which will help in their studies!

Educating them is the next rational step. If we don't make free education for B40s an urgent movement now, a major part of of our country's society and economy will be affected in the very near future.Prevention is always better than cure. Our battle against Covid-19 may be easing up, but our fight against education inequality still continues.
