Wasting Food Doesn't Make You Cool!

The Story

Hi, my name is Chin Chong. I'm 22 years old and currently studying mechanical engineering at UTM. I'm passionate to help people around the world who suffer from the social issues such as hunger, climate change, mental health and so on.

The project that i joined is Clean Our Plate (COP) by Aiesec Johor Bahru. As the project name so, clean our plate objective is to avoid food wastage and spread awareness to the public. The project is aligned to SDG 12, responsible consumption and production.

The reason that I am fundraising for this campaign is to ensure the financial sustainability of our projects so that Aiesec Johor Bahru can keep running this project every year and spreading the awareness to more and more people. Not only that, but the amount of the fundraising will also contribute to the society by donating to 448 FOOD BANK.in Johor Bahru. The organization will provide food to poor needy families.

The world generates 2.01 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually and according to the United Nation, 1.3 billion tonnes of food are wasted globally every year. Many of underdeveloped country in Africa suffer from hunger every day and eventually die from the starvation. I'm appreciate that such issues didn't happen often in Malaysia. However, we must take action immediately before it was too late !!! especially during the pandemic covid-19. Lastly, please help to share with your friends around! Thank you so much and stay safe.
