The Story

Hello, I am Qiqi, a local virtual volunteer for AIESEC in Sunway for the ‘Get Fit, Get Inclusive’ project. This project aims to reduce stigma of special needs in Malaysia and aid their development and integration into mainstream society.

Many people wish to help make someone’s day happier, and if possible, make their life better however they can. To do this, I decided to launch this fundraising event to raise awareness about special needs kids. I believe that all kids, with or without disabilities, deserve to have a chance at living their best life and can do so with the right resources. I hope that one day, children and individuals with special needs can be involved in and get accepted by mainstream society and have the ability and encouragement to earn their own living in the long run.

Any funds raised will be used for the IMC Training Centre for Special Needs to sustain their usual activities, which include lifestyle training, sports programmes, physiotherapy, personalised education and possibly support the potential construction of a new centre to support more kids with special needs in their integration into society. A talk about the importance of education for life and possible challenges that individuals with special needs face in terms of education, especially mainstream education fuels my respect towards the centre for their efforts in improving the lives of the special needs children under their care.

Knowing the effect of the pandemic, how about we help the centre to do what it does best, which is helping kids with special needs live better lives?
