Greetings and hello everyone!
Im Shazlin Adriana, one of the volunteers for Clean Our Plate summer project from University of Malaya under AIESEC in UM. This project were planned by youths to tackle food waste issues that is happening in Malaysia; aiming to advocate reduction in food wastage.
" Worthless people live only to eat and drink; people of worth eat and drink only to live" - Socrates
Food waste is discarded on a daily basis due to living nature of human beings via agricultural, industrial and domestic activities. Malaysia generates 38,000 tons of waste per day, of which 3,000 tons are edible and could have fed at least two million people. Due to the expanding population in the country, it has contributed to the enormous food waste increment. Research states that 49 per cent of the waste in landfills is made up of organic food waste. Whilst we’re deeply concerned about the problem of plastic slowly filling up the earth, it (plastic) only constitutes 14 per cent of the trash.
Through this effort, Clean Our Plate AIESEC in the University of Malaya is collaborating with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia to generate funds to purchase food contributions for the impoverished end beneficiary, with the goal of assisting roughly 150 communities during this terrible pandemic period.
The tentative food donation list that will be received per beneficiaries are as follow:
1. Mini Rice Cake 30s (20g)
2. Margarine (1kg)
3. Orange Cordial (2kg)
4. Potato (2.5kg)
5. Onion (1.5kg)
6. Eggs Grade C 30s (60g)
Even the smallest of contributions are used to build a better future for tomorrow.

70% of the funds will go back to the underprivileged end beneficiary whereas 30% will be used for future projects development.
Raised of MYR 300.00 target.
