Hey there! This is Daniel and Jayshree from AIESEC in Sunway. We're volunteers in the Empowering Equalities program.
“Put yourself in someone else’s shoes.” It was one of the most commonly used expressions by parents towards their children as they tried to get them to look at a situation from a different point of view. Most people believed that by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes for a moment, perhaps you would understand that life is not as easy-going as you seem to think.
But what about the lives of people in protracted refugee crises across the world? Are you, someone who has never been touched by these types of devastation, tragedies and violence able to imagine what life as a refugee would look like? Are you able to imagine the challenges and struggles that you would have to face?
At a very young age, we were fortunate enough to be given all basic necessities, a roof above our heads, a place to live peacefully and most importantly access towards education. Unfortunately, this can’t be said the same to refugees’ children in Malaysia. Making matters worse, COVID-19 comes into play, which lead to comprehensive lockdown in the early stages of the pandemic, known locally as the Movement Control Order (MCO).
This fundraiser aims to assist the vulnerable refugee communities in Malaysia that face lack of fundamentals for refugee children. With concerns of COVID-19 still present in Malaysia, we hope to reach out to you.
All the donated amount will go to the Refugee Learning Centres which are:
• ElShaddai Refugee Learning Centre (ERLC), Klang, Selangor.
• The Peace Education Centre (T-PEC), Kuala Lumpur.
A change needs to occur now, but it can only happen when YOU are willing to take the first step. DONATE NOW AND BE PART OF THE CHANGE.
“Sometimes it takes only one act of kindness and caring to change a person’s life.” – Jackie Chan
