Save food, be grateful

The Story

Hello guys,

I’m Ain, a second-year student and currently studying at Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Food waste is a common issue to everyone, yet how impactful it is, is the question. In Malaysia specifically, during the pandemic, we waste almost 17 tonnes of food daily and the number is expected to be increasing. With the past panic buying scenarios, are we being extra cautious or just being greedy? And the saddest part would be 24 percent of the food waste is classified as still edible and it can provide almost 3 million people for a day.

In supporting AIESEC in Penang, this project is to bring awareness on the food waste issue that is currently rising in Malaysia. The moment we are wasting food, the numbers of people who starved are creeping up. Here we are struggling to stop eating, yet in other parts of the country, they are even struggling to stay alive. From here we can see how critical the food waste issue is.

Do your part in supporting the food waste issue by funding this campaign. After all, who else is going to make the changes, if not us? Help us in spreading the awareness that wasting food is not cool. Just so you know that the food that you waste, might be someone else treasure. Be grateful for what you have.
