Food, Fund and Faith

The Story

Hey, my name is Benson and I am a member of AIESEC in Penang. Today, I wish to ask for your help in support of a fundraising campaign for the Clean Our Plate project hosted by AIESEC in Penang! This project aims to tackle the hunger issue in the community and we had previously run a food donation drive and awareness campaign to help those in need.

Did you know according to the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp), Malaysians threw away more than 16688 tonnes of edible food per day? That is enough food to feed more than 12 million people three times a day! This situation is getting out of hand especially during festive seasons whereby food waste increased by 15-20%! That is a lot of food to waste.

With the current pandemic, a lot of families especially those who are underprivileged are starving as their livelihood was affected. Some families even have children and the elderly to feed! We are urging the public to donate to this fund in support of the project to help them.  

Hunger is avoidable by our choice and no one should ever make a choice between who should be eating in their families. With a little kind contribution, you could change the living of those in need for the better. Come join us in the effort to fight hunger in our community!
