Serving Against Hunger Fundraising Campaign

The Story

Good day, I'm Benson from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). I'm currently a first-year student studying Bachelor of Pharmacy. I am organizing this fundraising campaign in support of the Clean Our Plate Project by AIESEC in Penang. 

I am always intrigued by the role that I can play in my community and the extent I could contribute to the society. I chose to tackle food waste because it is one of the major issues in our country. Daily food waste by fellow Malaysians accounts for the loss of 3000 tonnes of edible food per day. That amount could easily feed 2.2 million people. In the face of the current ongoing pandemic, it is sad to know the fact that food waste is still prominent while there are a huge number of underprivileged families suffering from hunger. Can you imagine having a hunger issue in a prosperous and abundant country? I believe no one should suffer from hunger in order to pay bills and make ends meet.  

This is the reason why I set up this fundraising campaign and I urge the support from everyone to end this together. The fund raised from this campaign will be used entirely on building food waste awareness and purchasing food for the needy especially those in the B40 community.
