Food Waste, Not in Good Taste

The Story

Hi everyone,I am Schweeta Kumaran ! I am a 16 year old student from SMK Puchong.I am currently a participant for the Clean Our Plate project,a food waste campaign that is run by AIESEC in Sunway. AIESEC is the world's largest non-profit youth-run organisation.This project is organised to change the perspective of the public towards the food waste issues which are getting worst during this pandemic.

Do you know that 1/3 of all food produced goes to waste and the annual value of food weighs about 1.3 billion tonnes?

Guess what? Ever since the MCO has been implemented, the food waste issue has been increasing.This is because a lot of people have been stocking up their daily needs especially food, afraid they will run out of it.This scenario has led to a huge waste as the remaining food that has not been consumed before the expiry date ends up thrown away. Moreover, this pandemic has not just effected our lives but also the needy community, in this situation, the elderly community who have been neglected. Lately,they have not been receiving donations and supports from the public. So why don't we help to reduce food waste at the same time help the elderly community.

At the end of the crowdfunding, the total amount will be used to purchase some daily needs along with 50 kg of food items that will be donated to the total 70 individuals of  Rumah Victory Elderly Home.

As a student,I would love to take this opportunity to lend a hand to the needy ones by giving them my full support and compassion as well as making them feel more loved.My fundraising online page intends to raise about RM800 to support the organisation that has been looking after the elderly community by providing them a nice home and ensuring that they are always loved no matter what.This fundraising campaign will be ongoing until 06/02/2021

As the saying goes,'Giving is not just about donating, its about making a difference'. I believe that a small act of kindness can end up becoming a huge impact that is able to change the lives of the underpriviliged.So,lets work together to make the society a better place by giving our love and support to the elderly community!No act of kindness however small is ever wasted!
