A LITTLE ABOUT ME & WHAT I'M FIGHTING FOR

Hello everyone! My name is Aniqah Van Haeren and I am a 21 years old Pharmacy student from Taylor's University! This year, I have decided to make a difference in the community by volunteering with AIESEC Taylor's University to fundraise for our Cancer Awareness event named Here 4 You (H4Y).  AIESEC is an international youth-run, non-governmental and not-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development, as well as focuses on empowering young people to make progressive social impact.

As a pharmacy student, I have always been passionate about public health and the mission to fight deadly diseases such as cancer. I also want to bring value to my time from my semester break to empower the community with my knowledge and efforts. Did you know that according to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in 2014, one in four Malaysians develop cancer by the age of 75 years? Cancer is also the 4th leading cause of death in Malaysia. Not to forget, close to HALF of Malaysian cancer patients are financially broke a year after being diagnosed.

Thus, I have started a fundraising page alongside Taylor's AIESEC's Here For You project to support National Cancer Society Malaysia in the battle against cancer. The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (Persatuan Kanser Kebangsaan Malaysia), (NCSM), is the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia that provides education, care and support services for people affected by cancer and the general public.

The services provided by NCSM are 

1.   Providing highly subsidised screening for the public and free screening for the underprivileged.
2. Providing nuclear imaging services at a highly subsidised rate
3.   Providing ‘a home away from home’ for underprivileged child cancer patient – and their caregivers from outside of Kuala Lumpur.
4.    Reaching out to the underprivileged communities and educate them on cancer prevention and early detection.
5.   Providing support and cancer information to patients, survivors, caregivers, and the public.

WHY SHOULD I HELP?

By supporting this campaign, YOU will be helping NCSM to continue their operations and reduce the burden of cancer children's families to pay for their expensive treatments. Throughout the next 4 weeks, I aim to raise a minimum of rm500 for the H4Y project to support NCSM in their continuous effort for the Malaysian cancer community. Check out the H4Y goals below!

Goal 1 - Providing ‘a home away from home’ called NCSM’s Children’s Home of Hope for underprivileged children cancer patients and their caregivers. Amount Needed: MYR 2000

Goal 2 - Providing highly subsidised screening for the public and free screening for the underprivileged. Amount Needed: MYR 500

Goal 3 - Providing nuclear imaging services at a highly subsidised rate. Amount Needed: MYR 500

In conclusion, with the Here 4 You Project, we aim to raise in total at least a minimum of RM3000.
