Waste not what the Earth gives us. — Food Donation Crowdfunding

The Story

Hi, everyone! My name is Lim Sheng Yao, an undergraduate student at Monash University Malaysia. I am currently participating in a volunteer programme of AIESEC Sunway, which is the Clean Our Plate project,  a project to change the perspective of public towards surplus food as a food for human consumption. Throughout the project, I would like to give back to our community and contribute to the society. By sharing the awareness about food wastage and promoting Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG), I hope that more people will take an action for our Mother Earth.

AIESEC is the world's largest non-profit youth-run organisation. It is an international non-governmental not-for-profit organisation that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural global internships, and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe. The organization focuses on empowering young leaders to make a positive impact on society through actions.

I started this fundraising page to support Xi Le Er Special Children Care Centre in Johor Jaya, this charity centre is taking care of children who are below 18 years old with multiple disabilities, such as: visual impairment, cerebral palsy, mild mental retardation including slow learner, autism and down syndrome population, regardless of races and religions. At the end of the crowdfunding, we will spend half of the donation to purchase the supplies they need at Tesco Malaysia and send to them under safety precautions during the pandemic. The other half of the amount will benefit Rumah Victory in Puchong as the center has been heavily affected by this pandemic and they have received lesser donations.

My target amount for this fundraising campaign will be RM1,000 to support the organisations which are helping the needy people and providing them a comfortable living environment. This campaign will be ended on 05 Feb 2021.
