Be A Part of the Solution, Not Part of the Pollution

The Story

Hello there, my name is Yishal Thillinadan an Accounting undergraduate and a member of AIESEC in University Malaysia Sabah. Being a part of AIESEC for a year has thought me a lot and more importantly exposed me to a lot of injustice going on around the world and one of that is the issue at sea!

Being in the Land Below The Wind, I see the sea almost every day but more often than not those seas are not as beautiful as what we see in the tourism pamphlets or Malaysia, Truly Asia ad campaigns and it can be heartbreaking to see something once so beautiful deteriorate just like that. Over recent years, plastic pollution has got the attention with almost everyone and many are stepping up their game to reduce plastic usage and prevent pollution of the seas. 

But everyone can agree that more must be done and that's where we come in AIESEC in Universiti Malaysia Sabah has launched a project since 2018 called Nature Warrior. The project is committed to being part of the solution for life below water. We focus on raising awareness among the public, especially the people residing near the coast, and aim to sustain the biodiversity of marine life for a prolonged period in Sabah as well. AIESEC projects involve getting Exchange Participants from all over the world to help us combat the problem together putting aside all differences or volunteering beyond borders.

We collaborated with the Kudat Turtle Conservation Society in the year of 2019 to have coral replanting, beach clean up, and rebuilding the turtle hatchery throughout the project timeline. We believe a series of small actions brings a big impact. Due to the pandemic attacks, the conditions become more serious and we need your little kindness to help the community.
