Hey guys, I'm Chi Feng, currently a second-year student in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), studying Bachelor’s Degree of Computer Science. I’m passionate to explore solutions that are able to change how the community reacts to world issues, and in this case, the food waste issues. With that, AIESEC is the best platform for me to address my concern towards the global issues.
You might be wondering, why food waste? Well, firstly, food waste issues are extremely serious in Malaysia that I guess 99% of you reading this right now would never aware of. How serious is it? The food waste can easily fill up the entire 88-stories Petronas Twin Tower in a month or two. We are the fortunate ones, we never need to worry about food in our daily lives. That explains why food waste is stacking up – we never appreciate them.
Listen, I was thinking the same with you before. How can the tiny action solve the entire food waste issues in Malaysia? How can a group of undergraduate students contribute to a world issue? It does not take me long enough to realize I’m wrong. When I was participating in the 6-weeks Clean Our Plate project during the last Winter from January 2020 to March 2020 as one of the organizing committees, the passion of global volunteers all across the world to help the global community bit by bit really touched me. I sincerely inspired the group of enthusiastic youths who are so eager to make the world a better place. That’s also why I decided to stay in AIESEC and let the momentum going.
Humans are being humans, we never appreciate something until we lost it. However, do you really want to wait until one day, that you might have to worry about your daily meals, only you realize how important the food is to us? Well, that is too late I’m afraid. If we do it together, we can make it together. We need your help, and we couldn’t do this without you. Yes, YOU! Start acting now, ZERO FOOD WASTE start from us!
