The Story

My name is Herwilisiah Gimang, I joined SOLS 24/7 in 2017. I started as a student and now I am one of the teachers at SOLS Academy of Innovation (SOLS.ai). In 2017, My cousin asked me to join her to study English and she is also my best friend, I was interested to go because I have no knowledge of English. I was so shy when I meet new people who are better than me, I did not have confidence at all.

When I first joined SOLS 24/7 in Sabah, I learned many things such as leadership, self-confidence, Motivation, and my English became better than before. The topic I liked the most was Motivation. I used to think negative of myself, compared others by their achievements and I thought, I could not be better like others but since I learned motivation, I try to change my mindset. I want to become a better person. 

In 2018 I came to KL just to study English, but here I found out we have many more opportunities and subjects to learn. We learned Solar Energy, Computer Skills, Motivation and English. Here I also learned how to cook! Before this I did not have the opportunity to cook for everyone. I am thankful because I have the opportunity to develop myself. In SOLS.ai I have many friends, even though we are of different cultures and races, we still become friends.

At SOLS.ai we take turns cooking and serving 3 meals a day, for seven days a week. It is important to have a kitchen that is clean and organized. In our daily routine we will use the kitchen most of the time for cooking the meals, so we need a clean environment for preparing foods or during cooking time.

The kitchen has problems, such as leaking water, and holes where mice or insects could potentially come through. The kitchen structure is also not really systematic, which causes our food to reduce in quality. 

Renovation is the best way to improve the quality in our kitchen, and I humbly ask for funds to help us achieve this.

I believe that if the place is clean, we are comfortable to cook and all the students are healthier and happy, and will be able to focus on their studies too.
