Protect and Save The children

Protect and Save the Children (P.S. The Children) is a Malaysian non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and violence against children, protecting children at risk, and supporting child survivors and their families. We work across prevention, intervention, recovery, access to justice, research and advocacy to strengthen Malaysia's child protection ecosystem.

Our services for child survivors of violence include:

1. Case Management: Survivor-centred assessment, safety planning, referrals, coordination with relevant agencies, and ongoing support for children and families navigating protection systems.

2. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS): Trauma-informed counselling, therapeutic interventions and psychosocial support to help children recover, rebuild resilience and regain a sense of safety.

3. Legal Aid and Access to Justice: Legal information, referrals and support for child survivors and families navigating police investigations, court proceedings and other justice processes.

Beyond direct services, P.S. The Children delivers prevention education in schools and communities, equipping children, educators, parents, caregivers and the general public with knowledge to recognise, prevent and respond appropriately to child abuse and sexual violence.

Over the years, our programmes, services and advocacy have reached and supported 12,000 children, survivors, families, professionals and community members in 2 decades. Our work also contributes to building the evidence base on child sexual abuse through frontline experience, case insights, community engagement and data collection. This evidence informs public advocacy and recommendations for stronger laws, policies and child protection systems.

P.S. The Children has contributed to advocacy efforts supporting significant legislative reforms in Malaysia, including the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792) and reforms strengthening protections for child witnesses, including the Evidence of Child Witness (Amendment) Act 2024. We continue to advocate for laws, policies and systems that uphold children's rights, strengthen accountability and ensure every child can grow up safe from violence, abuse and exploitation.
