About MyKasih Foundation MyKasih Foundation is a charity organisation that helps underprivileged Malaysians through food aid and education. The uniqueness of the MyKasih programme is in the technology that drives its welfare distribution. The system, developed by ePetrol Services, is transparent and prevents waste or abuse for three reasons. 1) Aid only goes to deserving Malaysians through the use of MyKad or a separate Mykad-linked smartcard, a privilege only granted to Malaysians because of their right of citizenship. Any MyKad is unique to its possessor owing to its embedded chip which stores information including biometrics that identifies its owner. Thus a non-citizen would not be eligible for aid as we believe charity should begin at home. 2) Once a recipient has been identified “through the government, NGOs and by MyKasih spot checks “ the recipient™s Mykad is registered into the MyKasih system using proprietary technology and an account is opened into which a monthly allowance is deposited. The recipient will draw down this allowance to pay for purchases of essential items at participating retailers. Card readers are provided to the retailers “ courtesy of the Foundation “ to authenticate the Mykad/MyKasih smartcards presented for payment. A unique bar-code scanning process at the point-of-sale ensures that only approved items are purchased. 3) The system is cashless as the MyKad, in effect, serves as a debit card. The lack of cash removes temptation and, hence, fraud. MyKasih relies entirely on donations from the public and corporate bodies, which are tax- exempt, to help fund its welfare programmes.
