CHARIS HOSPICE

It is a charitable organization offering free palliative home care services to patients with cancer and other advanced illnesses irrespective of race and religion. We work hand-in-hand with hospital doctors. Palliative care is the care of patients with progressive and life-threatening diseases. It emphasizes quality of life and helps patients live as comfortably as possible. It aims to provide relief from pain and other troubling symptoms by providing wholesome physical and psychosocial support to them and their families. To complement the homecare services, a weekly Multi Activity Centre was launched in September, 2009. A survivor™s support group that provides counseling and mutual support for early cancer patients/survivors was started in November, 2007. We started out with 1 doctor/medical director and 1 nurse and now we have 6 full time staff consisting of 1 doctor/medical director, 3 nurses, 1 administrator, 1 PR & Admin Manager and about 60 volunteers.
