The time period in which young people in our community are waiting on their parents to finish their classes or need some time to socialize may lead young people to engage in frivolous activities if there is nowhere for them to go to engage in organized activities or even finish their homework. The dangers of this occurrence in impoverished areas are a threat to productivity and growth among youths both intellectually and physically.
We have crafted a solution to this problem by implementing plans to establish a recreational centre here. Any town can benefit greatly from having a high-quality recreation centre. For kids, families, seniors, civic groups, parks and recreation departments, and more, a well-run community centre is a hive of activity. Regrettably, community centres in many places aren't providing for the needs of those in the neighbourhood. Some places are currently without a community centre and the idea behind this community centre is, we want to create a space that serves the community, particularly young people.
Young people's lives can be stabilized by a thriving community leisure facility. We are building a community centre that fosters discipline, good exercise habits, and teamwork by providing secure, well-equipped areas for activities including darts, ping-pong, and intellectually stimulating sports such as chess.
With the establishment of this recreational centre, we intend to provide the ideal environment for neighbourhood mentoring programs that helps the local youths improve their leadership skills and we want to provide assistance in achieving this. It will play a critical role in areas that lack the facilities required to keep young people in secure situations. Youth at risk can find sanctuary in this community centre. In addition to minor refurbishment of the building that will house this centre, we would also require equipment such as computers, printers, a Television etc, to bring these plans to life.
The RM10,000 that we will fundraise through this campaign will be used to purchase this equipment as well as cater for other operational costs if need be. We also appreciate support in non-monetary means (eg equipment).
This thriving community can be made whole by the existence of this great recreational facility that will cater to the needs of young people. We will undoubtedly offer a setting where committed individuals can foster a culture of learning and growth for children. Through this facility we also aim to promote camaraderie and local pride within the community and together with the opportunities for communication, inclusivity and community education, our target is to also promote economic growth.

TAMARAI has been creating a platform for our community for education and skills training since 2013. We are based in Pulau Pinang and help people from a poverty background, high-risk surrounds and ex-prisoners from Pulau Pinang, Kedah and Perak.
Our aim is to provide education and skills to the youth, women and all those in need, so they can build a better future for themselves. We believe on ‘’ TEACH THEM TO FISH, NOT GIVING THEM FISH’’.
Till 2017, Tamarai has educated around 300 people in various skills and courses, making a change in our community.
TAMARAI wants to break the poverty circle, showing that there is always a way to life, we provide the tools, they do the rest.
WE SHOW AND GUIDE THEM THE WAY.
