Training & Rehabilitation Centre for Special Needs Children

THE PROBLEM

1) We have been in operation for the past 23 years, and most of the Teaching Aids used by our Occupational Therapists are due for replacement as the existing ones are worn and not in good working condition.

2) Our existing old Photocopy machine breaks down very frequently and very often we are unable to photocopy worksheets which are required by our special education teachers to use to teach our special children resulting in interruption of their programs. We also use the photocopying machine as a printer to print our administrative paperwork.

3) The polycarbonate extension to our front car porch is in a very poor condition and leaks badly when it rains heavily. Our children, especially those who are wheelchair bound, finds it difficult to get in and out of our center during rainy days.

4) The roof above the kitchen also leaks when it rains heavily and needs to be repaired soonest possible. The ventilation window frame is also infested by termites and also needs to be replaced.

THE SOLUTION

1) We need to have the latest upgraded version of teaching aids.

2) We also use the photocopying machine as a printer to print our administrative paperwork. With the new photocopying machine, such interruptions will be avoided and the programs can be carried out smoothly and there will be no delay in the office paperwork.

3) By replacing the extension, our kids will have a safer and more comfortable condition to go to our center and can study in a more condusive way.

4) The renovation and fixing of the kitchen will guarantee a much more safe environment for the kids.

THE IMPACT

The centre will be able to carry out the Rehabilitation Program for the 70 Special Children with multiple physical and mental disabilities currently registered with us and under our care.

We currently have about 70 special children with multiple disabilities under our care who will be able to benefit from all these new and necessary fixtures done in our Centre.

Goal Breakdown

Goal 1 - Teaching Aids for Occupational Therapy. Amount Needed: MYRRM 6,000.00

Goal 2 - Photocopy machine (including network set-up) . Amount Needed: MYRRM 4,800.00

Goal 3 - Polycarbonate Car Porch, Kitchen Roof Leak Repair, Ventilation window frame. Amount Needed: MYRRM 16,000.00
