Our school premises consist of two upper floors of a shoplot on Wangsa Maju’s Jalan Jernai. With multiple classrooms and recreation areas, these spaces have transformed into a home where upwards of 150 students are able to freely express themselves and grow. However our safe space is in jeopardy as we are currently struggling to meet rental payments while emerging from the pandemic. Without adequate support, we may be forced to give up our home and relocate!
With financial support from well wishers, Safe School for Refugees (SSfR) will be able to meet monthly rental payments that cost RM 2,400. Additional funds will be allocated towards utility bills that cost up to RM800 per month. Further, securing additional funding allows SSfR to overcome fund scarcity and evolve into an excellent refugee learning center.
With our home secured, SSfR will be able to allocate resources towards other high need areas. Once we have safely secured our operating spaces, SSfR is able to provide underprivileged students an opportunity to experience holistic growth and unlock their potential within. Further, the school will be able to update its financial aid model and provide larger bursaries for at need students.
