Did you know that, as of the end of February 2020, there are a total of 178,990 refugees and asylum-seekers registered with UNHCR in Malaysia?
Moreover, there is a total of 93,400 persons of concern, located in the states of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur itself, where it’s almost 53% of the overall registered numbers. (Source: UNHRCR Malaysia)
Refugees, not having the means to get their hands on antiseptic supplies, and the condition that they live in, makes them much more vulnerable to COVID-19. Furthermore, it's tough for them to get adequate medical care once they conceive the virus.
The implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) due to COVID-19 has caused much agony to the refugee community as many are not well-prepared to brace through a 8-weeks lockdown period. Many of these refugees (registered with UNHCR), are actually day-wagers, hence, they might have lost their jobs, are going to bed hungry and are unable to leave the house due to being elderly, OKU, have existing health conditions or is a single parent.
Here at Project Septhus, one bottle of 50ml hand sanitiser will be distributed to the said community for every RM5 donation received through NGOhub. Alternatively, donors can explore more options to support our cause by visiting our website and instagram profile.
Here’s our website: www.septhus.com and

We have worked with several entities to distribute the hand sanitisers, as we aren’t able to go on-ground personally due to travel restrictions. As far as we know, many of these refugees are in need of sanitation goods, as we all know that hygiene is especially important during this COVID-19 season.
Entering the 11th day of #projectSepthus10k, we have been receiving 300 - 500 bottles of new requests on a daily basis, some days even a 1,000. We are overwhelmed, but we hope that by reaching out, you will be able to help us, as a little does really go a long way!
"How wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." - Anne Frank
If you were to ask me why is it important for us to reach out to the refugees or even supporting the communities, it is because they have no choice but we have a choice.
A choice to reach out, a choice to make a difference.
However, we can't do this alone and we hope by reaching out to you, it can help us raise funds to support these communities.
Thanks for reading till the end, if you're reading this, why not help us press the share button as well to spread the awareness to your close friends and families? ;)
