Help OrphanCare Branches to Survive

THE PROBLEM

The increase in number of babies left in unimaginable places such as garbage bins, bushes, drains or public toilets is alarming.  According to statistics obtained from Roya Malaysia Police (PDRM), an average of 100 babies are being abandoned every year, with more than half found dead.  

THE SOLUTION

OrphanCare Foundation was established with our mission to provide a safe haven for abandoned babies who will be placed with loving families. OrphanCare headquarter is in Petaling Jaya with 2 branches in Sungai Petani & Johor Bharu.  As at 29 Feb 2020, OrphanCare has saved a total of 396 babies, 65% have been adopted and the remaining are raised by their own birth mothers.

OrphanCare operating cost is funded partly by Corporates.  The remaining of our operation cost and salary of staff including Social Workers and Caregivers are covered through continuous support from the public and our independent fundraising efforts.  This is essential to ensure the sustainability of our Organisation and to enable us to continue delivering our services to the Community.

Each branch operation cost is around RM60,000 per year which used to cover the rental of the centre and baby hatch maintenance, utilities, awareness and programmes conducted at the branch.  Each branch has 2 Caregivers stationed 24 hours at the centre, on rotation.

THE IMPACT

This campaign is aimed to maintain the sustainability of OrphanCare branches in Sungai Petani & Johor Bahru for 2020.  Our branch awareness programmes have shown a positive impact in terms of the increasing numbers of babies saved, which translate to less babies dying because of abandonment.
