MeeFah Homeless Animal Shelter

THE PROBLEM

Mr Yong, the only proprietor of MeeFah Homeless Animals Shelter, is responsible for nearly 3000 dogs 60 cats. Strangers have been abandoning their dogs and cats in front of Mr Yong's gate unexpectedly for the past few years, leaving him with no choice but to take good care of them.

Aside from that, the shelter has a limited number of volunteers, making it difficult for them to manage the situation efficiently, especially when the animals are misbehaving. Furthermore, the dogs' daily food consumption is 20 packets of dog biscuits, which cost almost RM1.2k per day; each year, he must spend nearly RM14.4k merely to keep the animals from starving.

To Mr Yong, those animals are family to him, he treats them with love and respect which he refuse to let them suffer in the wild, he would do whatever he can for them. If this trend continues, MeeFah will slowly lose their lovely animals.

THE SOLUTION

However, there is still hope for MeeFah Shelter. With the help of our community, we can change the current situation of the animals. 

Leo-Lions club of Solaris KL as an organisation main mission is to provide supplies and the best possible care for all the animals, with the large population of dogs and lack of resources it is a difficult process to keep them in a healthy environment.

There are many costs associated with running Leo-Lions club of Solaris KL, particularly the MeeFah Animal Shelter Project. The main costs come in the form of food, as we have to be a a huge sum of food for the dogs and cats. Other costs include husbandry and veterinary costs and utilities to run the centre.

Our organisation relies heavily on public donations and support to keep their projects running. As it has with so many others, the COVID-19 crisis in Malaysia had made it exceedingly difficult for us to gather funds for our project, the MeeFah Animal Shelter Project. Sourcing biscuits for the adult gibbons and milk formula for the infants has been challenging and our scheduled volunteers, who provide us with funds and assistance on site, are now unable to come to work alongside the team. This is why we need your support.

THE IMPACT

With your support we can acquire enough food for the animals and ensure we are treating each and every one of them with the finest care possible. We can then continue with their rehabilitation even during this trying time.
