THE PROBLEM

Project Background and Problem Statement

Orphans often do not get as much opportunities as other children with parents that are willing to provide them with special training. Moreover, some of them were often subjected to sympathy, oppression and harshness. This will result in children growing up to be insecure, lack of confidence and unable to take control of their own future.

Therefore, in our project, we will carry out a 2 days programme in UCSI University in two weeks,  to expose hard skill related to technology as well as soft skills, such as oral communication skills to the children, in collaboration with the professionals in the related fields.

At the end of the project, the children will be able to acquire two new skills that will benefit themselves, while being able to clearly voice out their opinions and feel more confident as they carry out any necessary actions.

THE SOLUTION

Obj 1 :To expose the underprivileged kids to technology related   skills

Expected outcome : They will gain basic technology related skills

Measurable Indicators: Kahoot! will be used to test them about skills learnt.

Obj 2 :To improve presentation skills of the underprivileged kids.

Expected outcome : They will be able to present their ideas in a clear and concise manner

Measurable Indicators: Kahoot! will be used to test them about skills learnt

THE IMPACT

Project Impact and Sustainability

With the success of this program, participated orphans will have a basic foundation of programming in games and photoshop, in which they are able to create entertainment-related programs and sustain it. In the process of acquiring their foundation, the orphans are also capable in the art of presentation, in which they are able to present to a large crowd behind the purpose of their work.

Project InSpark will have a positive impact on the orphans’ mental health and consequently, their physical life. Therefore, we can assure that this 1-day programme will be supported by the caretakers.

In the event that the program was well received, a larger selection of fields will be considered in response to a larger module in preparation. More orphanages will be visited from a w:ider roster as we strive to continue this project in the long run.
