THE PROBLEM

Home is where the Hub is!

SEED helps one of the most marginalized segments of society, a group that has nowhere else to go. They exist on the fringes of society and go about their daily lives in the shadows – alone and destitute but with a strong will to live.

As trans people get older, most will live by themselves and without having access to sustainable jobs, they end up homeless.

THE SOLUTION

This home is aimed for trans community members above 40 years of age regardless of their ethnicity and religion where they are able to start fresh - look for a job and sustain themselves.

THE IMPACT

The HOME can fit 8 people comfortably and is their ‘base’so that they are able to get a job and their lives on track. Once they are able to sustain themselves, they are then encouraged to be independent so that the next person will be able to stay in the house.

For those who are above 55 years old and unfit, they are not required to look for a job outside and are encouraged to create jobs from home.

You can help us to cover the rental costs of the home for the first year.

So dear people please help us help them live with dignity and with the comfort knowing there are people who care.

Here's to a time when transgenders are treated fairly in our community.

About the Organization/Project behind this Campaign

Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kebajikan dan Persekitaran Positif Malaysia - SEED

Officially registered in 2014, Pertubuhan Pembangunan Kebajikan dan Persekitaran Positif Malaysia  - SEED, was created to ensure that there are support services available for those socially excluded, especially the transgender community.

We help a segment of society that has little hope and lack the support of their family and the community. They are the poorest of the poor, shunned and judged by society. Having nowhere to go, they exist on the fringes of society and go about their daily lives in the shadows – alone and destitute but with a strong will to live.

Such community lives in the backstreets of Chow Kit and has various issues to grapple. Some are drug users and some are living with HIV. Most walk the streets to earn a living and have no roofs over their heads.

Today we are proud to say, with the support of our Friends of SEED, we have a drop-in center, which is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday, where they get square meals, have their baths and a safe place to rest their weary bones for some hours. They are treated with respect and compassion and they feel hope, love and camaraderie.

We recently opened our HOME for homeless Transgender people above 40 years old. The HOME can fit 8 people comfortably and is their ‘base’ so that they are able to get a job and their lives on track. Once they are able to sustain themselves, they are then encouraged to be independent so that the next person will be able to stay in the house.

For those who are above 55 years old and unfit, they are not required to look for a job outside and are encouraged to create jobs from home.

At SEED, we stay true to our motto – Nobody Gets Left Behind. Giving up was never an option for us, not when we had over 9.800 people who were dependent on our support and services.

We are continuously seeking new ways of sourcing for funding and resources to support our community and open up possibilities to make different choices for the betterment of their lives and their families.
