There has been a lack of support by the public due to societal stigmas surrounding substance use. This has caused basic facilities like the plumbing system, electrical, safety and cleanliness maintenance, etc. to perish. The manager himself has taken charge of such duties to keep costs low in order for the centre to continue to run. Although such measures are taken by the manager, they still need a helping hand to fund sufficient resources to upkeep Rumah Hijrah.
Rumah Hijrah established in 2010 by Mr Razlan Zainal Abidin (66) in Johor (near Hospital Permai) is an active drug rehabilitation centre with the motto “ “HONEST IN WORDS, SINCERE IN DEEDS”. Just like that they have been helping people recover from and cope with drug addiction by providing their “Rearranging lives” programme for 6-12 months.
The programme aims to develop independence, self esteem, spirituality and sobriety among those suffering with drug addiction. The programme entails doing activities that help develop their interpersonal skills by providing job opportunities, contacts and aftercare by using tools such as lectures, discussion, assignments etc.
The funds raised from this campaign will help RUMAH HIJRAH with the maintenance and repairs of the centre in order to continue to aid those in need.

VOLTAGE - Volunteer To Aspire Generations is a student club from Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia that aims to help the community surrounding us with a unified goal to seek the best in humanity and help those who need it the most. We are a well-known community service club based in NUMed, involved actively in a wide range of volunteer projects. This year we plan on hosting multiple in-person events to make up for what we lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. In previous years, we have had weekly volunteering activities across Johor, including Project GUIDE, Project HOPE, Soup Kitchen and Project Cerebral Palsy as well as our main volunteer event, PROJECT SEED. As a result of our vast number of projects, we have won Society Contribution and Outstanding Contribution to the Community Awards from Newcastle UK 2020 and Society of the Year 2018/19 Award from NUMed.
