THE PROBLEM

Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Family Reproductive Health Association (SWP FREHA) is one of the oldest Family Planning Associations in KL and Selangor. Since 1953, we have been delivering programmes and catering to reproductive health needs of  the people, including women, men, and families. Through the years, FReHA has worked mostly with underserved and maginalised communities. We provide reproductive health services and conduct educational awareness programmes.

DID YOU KNOW that Cervical Cancer is the 3rd most common cancer among women in Malaysia? IT IS!

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) , the fourth most common cancer in women is the cervical cancer. Cervical cancer was diagnosed in approximately 570 000 women worldwide in 2018, with approximately 311 000 women dying from the disease.

Most of them (especially women from B40 communities) are affected by COVID19 and MCO because they are unable to access reproductive health products or services. Some women are unable to meet their needs. A global movement is growing among communities and individuals to accelerate the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health problem.

THE SOLUTION

The only way we can overcome this issue is by letting people know on the services we provide,  such as:

  • Pap smear services (screening)
  • Ultrasound (scan)

Regular screenings can detect the early signs of cervical cancer. The best protection is early detection.

Our aim is to provide sexual reproductive health services for women and to eliminate cervical cancer.

FREHA also  works closely with NGOs, universities, local youth organisations, and social projects to ensure that all materials are delivered to those who are genuinely in need.

THE IMPACT

We hope to raise RM 3000 to provide services for marginalised community during this demanding period of time. For evry RM 25 donated , 1 pap smear service can be done.  We have aimed to carry out the services for 120 women from the B40 community .

Your support is crucial to our efforts to solve this issue. If you are able, we'd love it if you could make a donation to help us acieve our mission.

About the Organization/Project behind this Campaign

Persatuan Kesihatan Reproduktif Keluarga Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan (FREHA)

SWP FReHA (Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan Family Reproductive Health Association) is the first family planning association to be founded in Malaysia. For more than 70 years, FReHA has devoted its energy to passionately providing access, services, and educational programs related to sexual and reproductive health and rights for all levels of the community. Today, this center still functions to provide sexual reproductive health services such as Pap smear, ultrasound, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) screening, men’s health screening, Hepatitis B vaccination, contraception, family planning counseling, full blood test, urine test and few more.

FReHA conducts awareness workshops and health talks on sexual reproductive health and rights for the community. In terms of giving back to the community, we are always looking for ways to raise funds so we can continue to provide sexual reproductive health services to the vulnerable and the marginalised communities.

In conjunction to our 70th Platinum Anniversary FREHA wishes to give back to the marginalised community by providing 500 hygiene kits, costing RM30 each, with the total cost of this project at RM5,000.
