Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many people within our society have fallen into financial struggel. According to leaders in the NGO communities, there are many cases of families being evicted from their homes and businesses running out of resources to survive. As a 26 year-old entreprenuer who solely manage and own a capsule hostel, founded in early 2019, located on Jalan Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, I understand the dilemma of being in both situations.
The Covid-19 pandemic has rendered the tourism industry dead. Many hotels, including 5-star hotels in the city center of our capital, Kuala Lumpur, has shut their doors. According to relieable expert sources, the industry won't begin to recover for at least the next 2 years. This is lethal to the capsule hostel.
The solution to those who are being evicted / homeless is for a general shelter to be established.
The best use of the capsule hostel, during this time, is to transform it into a general shelter to temporarily accomodate those who are in need of a place to stay.
The Care Shelter Kuala Lumpur project will help provide many people who are going through financial struggles a little breathing room to recalibrate, redirect and relaunch their lives in a safe, comfortable and highly-accessible place.
Being located in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, with all the ammenities near-by; such as public transportation, malls, shops and restaurants, it's hyper-convenient for the benificiaries to look for new opportunities to get their lives back on-track. Back to ease, peace and stability.
